With
faster A-1 bent grass greens and many reworked bunkers this classic,
old style and previously highly over-rated course finally has something
better to offer, and is getting rave reviews. This tract was the site of
the PGA Senior Tour Championships for six years, a Women's U.S. Open and
the finals of PGA Tour Qualifying School. Built almost on the beach,
this Oceanside golf course, with four sets of tees, is consistently
rated one of America's Top 100 courses, primarily because the Dunes
hosts the Golf Writers of America every year. Recently, however, Golf
Digest dropped them from the Top 100. This is a semi-private facility,
and features a broad variety of holes with their No. 13 (a.k.a.
Waterloo) being world famous. |
