Champion, Fred Couples, chose Winding River Plantation as the site for
this his first Carolina golf course. Carved from pristine Carolina
landscape using the scenic Lockwood Folly River as its backdrop this
27-hole facility features three nines named Egret, Heron, and Ibis after
the native water birds that make the course their home. This tract is an
Audubon certified sanctuary, and they have a hard time getting their
customer service act together, but things appear to be going smoother
now.
