Angels Trace Golf Links - South CourseCourse Closed! The South course, and it’s sister course, opened in 1995 on a 807-acre tract in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. It was set among tall Carolina pines, large oaks and dogwoods in a beautiful natural setting. This course with it’s tri-mixture of bent grasses, elevated tee boxes, generous rolling fairways, large greens and pristine lakes offers golfers moderate difficulty from the white and gold tees, with a lot tougher test originating from the tips. There are also a few forced carries for women on this one. The course  closed on October of 2006, supposedly for a new 36-hole redesign by the owners of Ocean Ridge Plantation and Tim Cate. The name is supposed to be changed to Jaguar’s Lair, and a “sometime in late 2008” is the obviously iffy opening date. Hopefully, by that time the piss-poor attitude of the Ocean Ridge corporate office that has been poisoning the attitudes of the staffs at Lion’s Paw, Panther’s Run and Tiger’s Eye will not be a factor. The Myrtle Beach rumor mill says that Ocean Ridge is in financial trouble, and is looking for a deep-pocketed sugar daddy, and this unknown reopening date only adds fuel to that fire.
