Built on a pre-Civil War rice plantation, located on the Black River in Georgetown, South Carolina, this is the southern-most golf course in the Myrtle Beach area. It languished for years, then finally closed in December 2008. Well, they couldn’t keep the old girl down. New risk-takers stepped up, and reopened the course in early 2010. Always known for it’s live oaks, Spanish Moss and historic Southern setting, the course itself has never been much to write home about. 6,785-yards, wide, flat fairways, Tif Eagle Bermuda greens, five sets of tees and an good hours drive from the Myrtle Beach oceanfront, pretty much sums it up for this resurrection. While we commend the courage of the new team and wish them well, unless you’re located on the very south-end of town, and are only looking for a nearby place to play, we can’t offer much encouragement here.
