This little course, originally simply named Eastport, while blessed with naturally undulating terrain along the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway, was closed in January 2007. Then, after an unsuccessful attempt at development, it reopened with a new name and only a minimum capital investment, so it leaves much to be desired. The regrassed layout features narrow fairways and large Mini Verde Ultra Dwarf Bermuda greens. While most of the course is wide open, there are also a couple of tree-lined fairways and doglegs, with the last three holes offering the best challenges – if you can actually even call them “challenging.” Again, it’s a short course, with two tee boxes squeezed right up against busy and noisy Highway 17. Needless to say, we’d just say no thanks for now to this reincarnation, and tee it up somewhere else.
