Currently ranked No. 8 by Golf Magazine on their Best Public Golf Courses in North Carolina roster, for the last couple of years this, the third of the four courses at Ocean Ridge Plantation, has not only been the best course there, but one of best courses in the area. It features elevation changes of up to 60-feet, tight fairways lined by dense forest, lakes, ample bunkering, large, extremely tricky greens, 40-acres of wild flowers and even a small waterfall. When it opened it was a nominee for Golf Digest’s Best New Public Golf Course in America. There has been an ongoing rumor that Ocean Ridge has been having financial issues, which probably accounts for the all too frequent surly attitudes of some staffers there. They also have one of the crummiest golf websites around.
