A Bridge Too Far: The Barefoot Resort Intracoastal Waterway drawbridge will be closed to all traffic from Monday, November 28th thru Monday, January 16th. This 49-day closing means that golfers will have to travel miles and, at least, an extra 30-45 minutes to get to this, and the other three Barefoot courses, via Highway 90.
Currently ranked No. 8 on Golf Magazine’s Best Public Courses in South Carolina. Historically, this has always been, and remains, the best tract at Barefoot. Now with its new Champion Ultra Dwarf Bermuda greens, the best got even better. It is routed through a spectacular piece of property. While the course does not return to the clubhouse after nine holes, it is not a British links course, but rather a classic Low Country course, filled with live oaks, pines, sand, natural areas and native grasses. Waste areas and bunkers are placed for visual and strategic effect, while natural elevation changes add drama and excitement. Water can be seen on 15 holes, but many lakes are in out-of-play areas. The course has 4 sets of tees and plays to 6,834 yards. In 2008 they completed a beautiful new 27-acre practice and teaching facility serving the Fazio, Love and Norman courses.
