River Oaks Golf Plantation - MBGA RATING - « This facility has three nines, the Bear, Fox and Otter, that are played in three eighteen hole combinations, with the Bear being the easiest of the three. All three are similar with narrow tree-lined fairways, mounded fairways, large lakes and small, bunkered greens. In 1990, Golf Course Rankings of America – whoever the heck they are - rated as one of the “Top Five” courses on the Grand Strand? Sadly, the good news is all old news with respect to this facility. They recently completed converting their greens to Champions Ultra-Dwarf Bermuda, with the effect of putting lipstick on a pig.

Warning: If you’re thinking of staying at one of the River Oaks condos you might want to THINK AGAIN, as these units are notorious for lousy, rundown accommodations and terrible guest services, when you can find them. Undoubtedly, one of the worst golf lodging operations in town.
