TPC of
Myrtle Beach–
MBGA RATING -The
Tournament Player’s Club of Myrtle Beach was originally, only known for
being where the crotchety old PGA pros, has-beens and hanger-ons used to
play “geezer golf” in the PGA Senior Tour Championship (now laughingly
called the “Champions” Tour, when it should be called “Who Dat Depends
Tour). This course features narrow, wind-swept fairways combined with
water features and wetlands – that come into play on 11 holes - spread
throughout the tract. These wetlands along with waste areas create
formidable carries on several holes, though alternate routes are
provided for higher handicap players. More than 70 bunkers, most of them
around the medium to large, undulating greens, protect the targets. They
recently ended their problems with their greens when that converted all
of them to the same hardy Mini-Verde Ultra-Dwarf Bermuda found on the
TPC at Sawgrass, and now this is one of the top 3 courses here.
